    March 31 – Day 14 of COVID 19 Experience

Skewed I hate to shop.  I hate shopping.  Crowded stores make me crazy.  Rude people make me nuts.  I don’t like crowded parking lots.  I hate being pressured.  I hate making important decisions on the spur of the moment. There was a lot of hate in my world today. Jerry and I spent the majority of yesterday making lists (I do love lists!).  We inventoried all the food, personal hygiene products, and cleaners we had.  We made a list of all the projects we wanted to accomplish in the next couple of months and what materials we would need to get them done. And then, today, we went shopping. We…

March 30 – Day 15 of Our COVID 19 Experience

I Wore Real Clothes Today…Just Like I Always Do My cousins and I have been texting each other more during this pandemic than usual.  We aren’t trading survival tips or crying about what is going on in the world.  I have amazing cousins who send texts about how they have day pajamas and night pajamas.  They discuss how they rotate from one to the other and we laugh about it.  Today, I was thrilled to text the above photo while they were discussing PJs. I, the brave, strong one (ha!) had not succumbed to the pajama disease.  I had on real clothes…just like I always do. Habit or Fear? I…

March 29 – Day 12 of Our COVID 19 Adventure

Good Morning from White Rock Today dawned and it was spectacular.  We were greeted this morning with the spectacular sunrise above.  It was easy to push back the concerns of the day for a bit longer while we watched this new day arrive.  We know that things can change in a second.  I always try to remember that so that I can be truly grateful for each moment of grace I experience. Izzy Goes Home Izzy’s morning started off with a dry diaper, clean (and cute!) clothes, a hair-do, and breakfast.  The girl loves eggs and loves to eat (usually).  She chowed down on her eggs while I sipped a…

March 29 – Day 11 of our COVID 19 Adventure

Half of the Cuteness With JW gone, there was only half of the cuteness here.  Izzy worked really hard today to make sure that she delivered as much as she could.  First, she took over PopPop’s chair and decided that she should forego getting dressed since her purple shoes fit over her footed pajamas.  I think she has been on my Facebook page and saw all of my friends who have decided to live in their PJs too.  I can’t say that she is wrong. Izzy Has to Help The chickens needed a new box.  Izzy sweetly offered to help PopPop.  She has managed to get dressed and changed shoes. …

March 27 – Day 10 of Our COVID 19 Adventure

A Bit of a Rough Start We had a rough night last night.  JW’s allergies really got to him in spite of his allergy meds.  He coughed all night.  He work up hoarse and out of sorts.  Both babies have had runny noses and we have been holding our breath, hoping that it was only allergies.  I think last night was the straw that broke the camel’s back.  Poor little guy was not feeling well and I think missing his mom and dad and was tired of sharing space with another little person.  I can’t say that I blame him.  When I don’t feel well, I am never in a…

March 26 – Day 9 of Our COVID 19 Adventure

Up Before the Chickens The first unhappy chirps began before 4:30am. Izzy wasn’t happy and she wasn’t inclined to keep that information to herself.  Jerry got her up and took her into the kitchen.  She was hungry.  Must be a growth spurt.  At any rate, when he exited with her, John Warren looked up and said “Pop Pop?” and then he was up in spite of my valiant efforts to convince him to go back to sleep. What this meant, in the long run, was that today was hard.  On all of us. Crash and Burn #1 While watching Paw Patrol, Izzy needed a lap.  That would be me.  She…

    Bread Pudding Recipe

I blew it.  I should have taken a photo of the bread pudding in the serving dish before we dove into it.  Honestly, I wasn’t thinking blog.  I was thinking dinner and how the day had been insane.  We just needed to get through the meal, you know? The bread I made this weekend didn’t all get eaten.  We are trying to be mindful of what we are cooking and eating in order to minimize waste.  For those in the future who may stumble across this post, we are in isolation due to the COVID 19 pandemic.  (That sounds terrible…) I knew I had made a big mistake when Jerry…

March 25 – Day 8 of Our COVID 19 Adventure

Chicken Love Affair – The Romance Deepens JW is fine with the chickens.  He wasn’t the one who lost their mind when the baby chicks arrived.  Izzy, on the other hand, absolutely lost it and was terrified.  The chicks have been here for a week now. This is where we are. Both kids blow kisses to the chicks and stop by and say hello.  Both of them are trying to reach into the box to pet the “chickies” which I have mixed feelings about.  On the one hand, the chicks need human contact, but on the other, the babies are more like miniature monsters approaching the box…loud, waving their arms,…

March 24: Day 7 of Our COVID 19 Adventure

Hallelujah!!! Finally!  Sunshine and giggles on the porch.  The kids were barefooted and loving life today.  I didn’t get a photo of it, but there was also a crop duster in the area that flew over out house repeatedly today.  “Yellow plane!”  and “In the trees!” were the hot phrases of the afternoon.  I am hoping the plane comes back soon or that it dries out enough for the farmers to come and plant the fields around us.  Either would be hours of entertainment for us around here. Life is a Drag Izzy took to dragging her blanket behind her today.  Yes, it caused a few problems.  She got in…

March 23: Day 6 of Our COVID 19 Adventure

Whew.  Okay.  I was thrilled when this day ended.  Not because it had been a bad day, but because it was the last of the yucky weather and there was a promise of sunshine and warmth tomorrow.  I CAN’T WAIT!!! Visitor from the Outside Mike made the trip up and was a hit (of course) with the kids.  He sat in the floor and played with them and they were so glad to see him.  Izzy was happy to see her daddy and that was a sweet thing for today.  Mike stayed for dinner and took some left overs home to Jillian.  Jillian and Mike are great cooks and I…
